Classically trained in both violin and viola and self-taught on cello, Laurie Thornton has found her current recording niche in tracking string sections. While she sight-reads charts and sheet music quickly and with ease, she most enjoys recording improvised, layered string sections that tell a story, that melt with the other instruments, and that stretch the boundaries of chord structure just the slightest bit.
